Interior And Exterior Problem Solving.
Cracking/Flaking- When at least one coat of paint splits due to aging. At first, a hairline crack occurs and eventually flaking developes.
Solution- Remove damaged paint with a scraper or in extreme cases remove all paint with heat or chemicals. If the surface has multiple layers of paint, filling would be necessary. After preparation apply primer and top coat.
Fungal contamination- Dark spots found on painted surfaces or sealant, often located in damp bathrooms and kitchens etc...
Solution- Wash affected areas with diluted bleach. Dry and prepare area then apply a high quality paint. Consider installing ventilation.
Yellowing- Discolouration developes in aging paint. Most common when
using white paint or clear varnish in areas protected from sunlight.
Solution- Rub down surface and apply high standard water-based paint
or non-yellowing varnish.
Sealant failure- Over time sealants may crack and break away from
the surface.
Solution- Remove old sealant, ensure surface is clean and dry.
Apply high quality water-based acrylic sealant and leave unpainted.
Fading colour- Fading may occur due to excessive sunlight or
poor quality high pigment paint.
Solution- Prepare area and apply high quality exterior paint.
